Loyola headed to St. Louis and the Arch Invitational for the first time and came away with a Top Ten finish and the Spirit of AMTA award. 494 and 496, both loaded with first year mockers, finished 5-3 and 3-4-1, respectively. 494 started off the tournament facing the hosts and dropping two ballots. After splitting with Iowa in round two, 494 took two from another Iowa team and from North Alabama to finish in 9th place. 496 started against Loras and won and tied before dropping two to the hosts and then splitting with Texas and Iowa in the last two rounds. 496 didn't leave empty handed, however, as they earned 29 out of 30 ranks for the Spirit of AMTA award. It's now the fifth straight year in which Loyola as a program has won a Spirit of AMTA award.
