At the inaugural Thunderdome Invitational hosted by one the fastest-rising programs in AMTA, Loyola's two-teams established continued prominence in the Midwest. Both teams were a combination of returners and freshmen. 1131 finished 6-2 in 3rd place, and 1130 went 4-4.
Team 1131 kicked off the tournament with 11 point and 3 point ballot wins against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Round two saw 12 point and 10 point wins against Elmhurst. In round three against Cornell College, the team split the ballots, losing by 8 and winning by 7. Round four saw another split, this time with Michigan. The team lost by 18 and won by 3. The 6-2 finish led to a third place trophy and the program's second Top Five finish of the season.
Team 1130 was hit with some unlucky draws and team-member illnesses forcing last minute changes. Despite the hurdles, the team battled to a 4-4 finish. The tournament started with a split against Illinois, losing by 2 points and winning by 1. In the second round against Hillsdale the team had another split, losing by 5 and winning by 6. Round three saw a tough loss to Michigan, by 20 and 10 points. They recovered in round four against Loras, however, managing to take both ballots and salvage a 4-4 record.
