For the first time in history, Loyola placed three teams in the Top Ten. The result continues a run of high finishes at the annual Lewis Fantastic Flyer Invitational. 495 placed 1st with a 6-1-1 record, 496 placed 5th at 6-2, and 494 earned 7th at 5-2-1.
495 began the tournament with a split against Notre Dame before winning two ballots against Lewis and North Central. In the final round, with the championship on the line, the team won and tied against the other North Central team to take home the first place trophy.
496 earned the best placing the team has ever had at an invitational. Beginning with a first round two-ballot win against Wisconsin-Parkside, 496 lost two ballots to Northwestern and then won two ballots against Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Carthage College. The 6-2 record was good enough for 5th Place.
494 had a strong first day, going 4-0 after taking two ballots from both St. Xavier and Columbia College. Day two saw a two-ballot loss against the first Northwestern team and a win and tie against the second Northwestern group. 5-2-1 earned 494 7th place.
