This season was Loyola's thirteenth in competition. This was the first year in which AMTA released two separate cases - one for Regionals and ORCS, and another for the National Championship. The main case was a civil negligence case, Park v. Duran. In 2010, Sydney Park invited classmate Jesse Duran to hang out at the Parks' home. Both children were 11 years old. The Parks kept a gun in their home. That morning, the gun was discharged, killing one of the children. The victim's parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the shooter's parents. The National Championship case, which we did not compete with, was Ginger v. Heisman, a voting rights case in which the plaintiff alleged the defendant manipulated votes in a mayoral election to prevent the plaintiff from winning.
